USCIS announced on June 12 that premium processing will now be available on changes of status to F, M, or J nonimmigrant statuses. Filing Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing, guarantees that USCIS will process an accompanying application within 15 calendar days for most types of applications.
Below are the effective dates:
- Beginning June 13, USCIS will accept Form I-907 requests, filed via paper form or online, for applicants seeking a change of status to F-1, F-2, M-1, M-2, J-1, or J-2 status, who have a pending Form I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status.
- Beginning June 26, USCIS will accept Form I-907 requests, filed either via paper form or online, for applicants seeking a change of status to F-1, F-2, M-1, M-2, J-1, or J-2 status, when filed together with Form I-539.
USCIS will not accept premium processing requests that are submitted before the dates above. Premium processing is only available for changes of status, and does not apply to extensions of status.
If required, biometrics must be submitted before the premium processing clock can begin. The method of filing Form I-907 must match the method of filing I-539 (both forms are available on paper and online). Please see the USCIS announcement for additional details.
