On June 28, 2022, in Zepeda-Lopez et al. v Garland, the Second Circuit overruled a long-standing Board of Immigration Appeals case holding that an asylum applicant with dual citizenship must show fear of persecution in every country of citizenship. The court ruled that an asylum applicant need only show fear of persecution in one of their countries of citizenship. This holding applies only in the Second Circuit but is still a victory for asylum advocates. More information can be read here.
